This Wednesday our group did our third activity which was inspiring. Lauren came up with the idea to go to the tunnel at the quad and write an inspiring quote with chalk on the wall. We all agreed that this was a creative idea and that it was a good thing to try and inspire people and I think we accomplished that.
First we had to find an appropriate quote that we felt would inspire the people walking through the tunnel everyday on their way to class. After searching the internet for a while we chose the quote "seek first to understand then to be understood" - Steven Covey. We felt this was a good quote because it means to first be an empathetic listener to be influenced by a person and this will cause that person to listen to you more and try to understand you too. Once we chose our quote we brought chalk to the tunnel and took turns righting the quote and decorating around it. We used many different colors to attract attention to our quote.
We talked about how this was a good quote for our class because it was about being able to listen and communicate well with other people. We felt it was a quote that could inspire people to try and understand someone who is different from them.
